Since 1979, the United States has set aside the month of June to appreciate the musical contributions of its African-American musicians, composers, singers and songwriters. On June 7 of that year, President Jimmy Carter decreed June to be Black Music Month. Each year since, Americans have celebrated the iconic music loved by generations.
Join us on June 6, 2018 as we Celebrate Black Music Month at the Live Bar in Downtown Jacksonville. From 5pm – 9pm, Joy Dennis and the band perform live, bringing a few tracks from Joy’s recently released album, “The Listening Party“, to life with the help of featured open mic guest singers and musicians. This event is free to the public and features drink specials and dinner menu.
